
Bio:
Nick Kralevich joined the Google Security Engineering team in 2006 and is one of the leaders of the Android Security team. In his role, he and the team are responsible for protecting Android's 100+ million users from attacks and security vulnerabilities. Nick holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
Nick has over 10 years of experience in the computer security industry, with expertise ranging from security assessments, code and design reviews, incident response, penetration testing, and malware analysis. Before Google, Nick was a security engineer in the Yahoo! 'Paranoids' group, focusing on protecting Yahoo!'s many web properties from attack. He is a recognized expert in mobile and web security and a contributor to ENISA's 2010 Smartphone Security Guide.

Abstract:
Mobile is growing faster than any technology in human history. With this rapid growth comes enormous opportunity and enormous risks. Users commonly perceive modern mobile devices as mere communication devices, while in reality, they are small computers with access to large amounts of personal information. In this session, we will explore Android and the risks associated with all mobile devices. We will also discuss Android's security philosophy, and the unique security controls available within Android to protect users.
